Exclusive: Nardine Marie's Colorful Wedding at a New Jersey Castle

The cake was "a unique seven-tier design to represent the bride’s exquisite taste for fashion,” says cake designer Priscilla Ortiz of Perfectly Styled & Sweet. “Intricate hand piping was enhanced by individually placed edible pearls, which gave the illusion of a beaded effect, and hand painted rice paper sails and fondant ruffles were added as accents.”

A bash thrown for a high school math teacher’s 30th birthday is proof of the theorem that people can party and still be COVID-safe.

The dark and elegant floral arrangements, comprising calla lilies, ranunculus, roses, tulips and alstroemeria in Watt’s favorite colors, signified the “blooming” she had experienced over the past twelve months. Other well-thought-out details, such as the custom “29 + 1 = Even More Fun” cake topper, paid homage to the guest of honor’s job as a ninth grade algebra teacher. Cake by Perfectly Styled & Sweet was cut and devoured.

A Whimsical Meets Rustic-Chic Wedding in Long Island City

Juani Feliz and Claribel Jimenez first met casually in May 2007. Juani—an actress who stars in the Amazon comedy Harlem and will appear in an upcoming HBO Max miniseries DMZ—and Disney exec Clari reconnected in January 2012. Juani proposed in epic fashion with a flash mob at Brooklyn Bridge Park. They began planning a wedding for almost exactly two years later—and then postponed an additional year due to COVID. When their 90 guests finally gathered at The Foundry in Long Island City, New York, they were greeted with a welcome sign that read, “It was worth the wait.” The main focal point was a floating three-tier cake by Perfectly Styled & Sweet on a rustic wooden stand surrounded by floating candles. Inside? Coconut vanilla and guava Dominican cake.
